WCASD students can sign up to take lessons on a band instrument starting in fourth grade. We offer free instruction on the following band instruments: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone horn, and percussion (drums). Instruments can be rented or purchased from a number of local music stores.
Band lessons take place during the school day. A typical lesson is thirty minutes long, once a week. Groups usually include from three to five students. With the approval of the band director, students may be selected to participate in the band for the winter or spring concerts. The Chorus, Band, and Strings combine to present a December concert; in the spring, the Chorus has a separate concert and the Band and Strings combine for their own Instrumental Concert.
