Leadership Transitions at WCASD: Dr. Stephen Brown and Dr. Sarah Graham Take on New Roles
The West Chester Area School District (WCASD) is proud to share the selection of two esteemed leaders to key positions within the district. Dr. Stephen Brown has taken on the role of Director of Teaching and Learning and Equity, while Dr. Sarah Graham has been appointed as the new Principal of East High School. Both leaders are starting their new roles immediately and will benefit from leaning on the support teams within the district.
Dr. Stephen Brown, formerly the Principal of East High School, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education to his new role as Director of Teaching and Learning and Equity. Dr. Brown has been a dedicated member of the WCASD community for over two decades. He began his career in the district as a high school teacher and moved into an Assistant Principal role at Fugett Middle School. As an assistant principal, he took on responsibilities such as Equity Coordinator, Master Scheduler, and Safe Schools Coordinator. Dr. Brown then transitioned to East High School, where he served as Assistant Principal from 2015 to 2021 before becoming Principal in 2021.
Dr. Brown holds a Doctor of Educational Leadership from Immaculata University, a Master of Arts in Education from Gratz College, and a Bachelor of Science from West Chester University. He is known for his leadership, fostering an inclusive, student-centered culture, and advocating passionately for students and families.
“For the past 13 years, my car has been on autopilot to the East and Fugett campus, and I’ve loved the drive every day,” said Dr. Brown. “That said, I am honored and thrilled to continue serving our district's teachers, students, and families in a different leadership role.”
Dr. Sarah Graham, who has served as Assistant Principal at East High School for the past six years, will now step into the role of Principal. Dr. Graham's deep care for the East Community and her extensive experience in educational leadership make her an excellent fit for this position. She has been with East High School since 2018, where she has overseen various academic departments and coordinated key initiatives such as the MTSS Team and Keystone Exam administration. Prior to her time at East, she served as Assistant Principal at Penncrest High School, where she also directed the Simon Youth Academy and summer programs.
Dr. Graham holds an EdD in Educational Leadership and an Administrative Certificate, Principal K–12 from Neumann University, a Master of Arts in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Penn State University. Her professional journey includes roles as a school counselor, special education teacher, and leader of numerous student support and academic initiatives.
“West Chester East is a special place with exceptionally talented educators who care deeply about the well-being and achievement of all students,” said Dr. Graham. “I am honored to continue to serve in this school community and look forward to welcoming our students for the 2024-25 school year!”
The West Chester Area School District is confident that the expertise and dedication of Dr. Brown and Dr. Graham will greatly benefit the district's students, staff, and community. We look forward to the positive impact they will have in their new roles.
