Henderson High School Welcomes New Assistant Principal and Athletic Director

The West Chester Area School District (WCASD) is pleased to welcome Mr. John Lunardi as a new Assistant Principal for Henderson High School and Mr. Steve Fitch as Henderson High School’s new Athletic Director. Both individuals bring a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to their areas of expertise, making them valuable additions to the administrative team at Henderson High School.

Being not only a teacher at Henderson for 13 years but also a former student of the school, John Lunardi has been an integral part of the Henderson community for over a decade. His unique perspective as both an educator and an alum brings a deep understanding of the school's values and traditions. Throughout his tenure, John has demonstrated unwavering dedication to the success of his students and the betterment of the school.

“I think Henderson is unique for many different reasons. One of those is that it's the original West Chester High School from back in the 1860s, so there's a tremendous amount of history here,” said Lunardi when asked what makes Henderson such a special place. “Ultimately though, the staff, families, and the students are what really make a school special. I'm proud to be from here and proud to work here,” he added.

Steve Fitch, a former student-athlete of Henderson in the 1990s, returned to the school to become their head baseball coach in 2008. Fitch has a deep passion for sports and wants to see Henderson's students accomplish their goals on and off the field. As a coach of 17 years, Fitch has undoubtedly showcased his devotion to the students and will continue to expand his reach to all of Henderson High School’s teams.

In sharing some of his goals as the new Athletic Director, Fitch said, “The main goal right now is to effectively connect with and oversee the 23 teams at the varsity level so that all coaches and teams have the support necessary to compete each and every day.”

“At Henderson, families should be able to show up and enjoy themselves in a family friendly environment and also know that our students are taught how to conduct themselves well on and off the field,” he added.
The West Chester Area School District extends a warm welcome to Mr. John Lunardi and Mr. Steve Fitch, and a thank you for all of the tremendous work they have already accomplished since the beginning of the school year.
