Keystone Volvo Helps WCASD Students Stay Warm for Winter

On Monday, November 7, employees from Keystone Volvo delivered the largest donation of brand-new winter coats to the West Chester Area School District (WCASD) since the annual Driving Away the Cold campaign began in 2008. WCASD caseworkers sorted through the different sizes and colors of 300 coats to prepare them for distribution to economically disadvantaged students within the district.

“We are always so fortunate to be able to be to partner with Keystone Volvo,” said WCASD’s Social Worker Coordinator, Patricia Alston. “Providing our students in need with new winter coats allows them to arrive at school ready to learn and enjoy the winter season rather than worrying about basic necessities. No child, or any person, should have to worry about staying warm,” added Alston. According to Alston, out of the nearly 12,000 students in the district, almost 17 percent are considered economically disadvantaged.

“Keystone Volvo is proud to have the ability to help keep those in need in the West Chester Area School District warm for the over 15 years!” said Keystone Volvo’s General Manager, Benjamin Stein.

Driving Away the Cold is coordinated by the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation. Approximately 177 Greater Philadelphia auto dealers are involved in the initiative that has provided over 575,000 coats over the last 15 years.
