BSU Students Honor MLK Jr. With a Day of Service
Black Student Union (BSU) students from East, Henderson, and Rustin High Schools honored the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in St. Paul's Baptist Church's (SPBC) annual MLK Day of Service.
Each January, the church celebrates and honors the legacy of Dr. King by sponsoring the county-wide Day of Service, which includes community outreach and service projects throughout the greater West Chester Area and beyond. SPBC seeks to make a positive impact on the community by collaborating with local churches, community agencies, civic organizations, and school districts.
After gathering in the morning at St. Paul's for a rundown of the day's events, WCASD students headed to Cornerstone Fellowship Church in West Chester where they assembled hygiene kits and care packages. The kits will be distributed to various charitable organizations throughout the area.
Although MLK Day is a federal holiday, many people spend their day off from school and work serving their community in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
