School Board Vacancy

The West Chester Area School Board Directors are seeking candidates to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Alex Christy in Region #1. The term would have expired in December 2027.  The School Board must appoint a candidate to replace Alex Christy. The appointee will serve until the first Monday in December 2027. Region #1 includes the following: West Chester 1, 2E, 2W, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and West Goshen M-1, M-2, N-1, N-2, N-3, N-4, S-1, S-3. Information on how to determine if you live in Region 1.

If you live in Region 1 and are interested in applying to be a candidate to be considered by the Board, you must complete this application form AND email a copy of your resume to Linda Cherashore, Board Secretary, at lcherashore@wcasd.net by 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.  Failure to submit all required items in the manner stated on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, by 12:00 p.m. may result in your application not being considered by the Board.

Please be advised that your name and the answer to the last short answer question on the application will be included in the agenda for the January 26, 2026, Board Meeting. The board members will receive the candidates' resumes and answers to the application in advance of the January 26 Board Meeting. Candidates should be prepared to make a statement (up to (5) five minutes long) on why they should be considered for the vacant school board seat if they are selected at the Board Meeting as a finalist. Candidates are required to attend the Board Meeting in person in order to be considered. 

As required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, prior to participating in official school board business, the Statement of Financial Interest Form SEC-1 must be completed. Candidates should complete the form in its entirety, sign it and be prepared to submit it to the board secretary at the meeting if they are appointed to the position. If selected, the appointee will serve until the first Monday in December 2027.

The West Chester Area School Board Directors will appoint a candidate to fill the vacant school board seat at the January 26, 2026, Monthly Board Meeting beginning at 7:00 pm. Meetings are held at the Spellman Education Center, 782 Springdale Drive, Exton PA. Candidates are required to attend the Monthly Board Meeting in person in order to be considered.
