The West Chester Area School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Zachary Lewis as the new Principal of Fugett Middle School, following approval by the West Chester Area School Board of Directors.

Lewis brings more than a decade of experience in public education, district leadership, and school turnaround work to WCASD. Throughout his career, Lewis has demonstrated a strong commitment to building welcoming school communities. His leadership experience includes designing and launching a dual-language program for multilingual learners, strengthening family and community partnerships, and leading instructional and operational teams to align daily practice with long-term district goals. He is known for using data to inform decision-making while keeping relationships, trust, and student voice at the center of his work.

Lewis holds a Master of Arts in Education, School Leadership with principal certification from Holy Family University, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Baltimore, and a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education. In addition to his school leadership roles, he has supported new and aspiring educators through professional development and mentoring work, helping to grow future leaders in the field.

“I am truly honored to join the West Chester Area School District and become part of a community with such a strong tradition of excellence,” said Lewis. “My leadership is grounded in relationships, shared values, and listening first. I look forward to partnering with students, staff, and families to build upon the great work already in place while ensuring every student, every class, every day experiences belonging, challenge, and success.”

Assistant Superintendent of Secondary, Dr. Jimmy Conley, shared his enthusiasm for the appointment.
“Zachary Lewis’ leadership is characterized by a collaborative approach to coaching teams, strengthening family and community partnerships, and aligning operations to instructional vision,” Conley said. “We are excited to welcome Zachary to the WCASD team and are confident his experience, integrity, and commitment to service will have a meaningful impact on Fugett Middle School and the entire Fugett community.”

Lewis is excited to join the Fugett Middle School community and looks forward to partnering with students, families, and staff to continue building a supportive, engaging learning environment where all students can thrive.
