WCASD Receives Excellence in School Facilities Award
The West Chester Area School District (WCASD) is proud to share that Director of Facilities and Operations, Mr. Wayne Birster, and the district have been honored with the 2025 Gold Award of Excellence in School Facilities by the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials (PASBO).
Presented annually, this prestigious award recognizes outstanding achievement in facility management and operations. WCASD’s selection reflects its ongoing commitment to providing safe, sustainable, and well-maintained environments where students can thrive.
“PASBO Awards of Excellence recipients have demonstrated adherence to best practices that result in exceptional school business operations programs benefitting schools, students, and communities,” said Hannah Barrick, PASBO executive director.
The PASBO Gold Award of Excellence, jointly sponsored by PASBO and Brightly, is based on the demonstration of seven core competencies: Facilities Maintenance and Management, Facilities Capital Improvement and Construction, Grounds Management, Housekeeping, Staff Management, Environmental Safety, and Benchmarking and Data Management. WCASD’s entry met all seven benchmarks, underscoring the district’s dedication to operational excellence.
“This recognition is a reflection of our team’s commitment to providing students and staff with clean, safe, and efficient spaces to learn and grow every single day,” said Wayne Birster, WCASD Director of Facilities and Operations. “We’re honored to be recognized for the hard work and good practices we have in place and will continue to strive for excellence as we expand our knowledge and abilities to provide the best possible spaces for the school community.”
Congratulations to Mr. Birster and the entire Facilities and Operations team on this well-earned achievement.
