Students use Seesaw to: Login to Seesaw as a Student

• Complete classroom activities and assignments
• Share their learning through photos, drawings, videos, audio recordings, and writing
• Build a digital portfolio of their work throughout the school year

Families can use Seesaw to: Login to Seesaw as a parent.

• View their child’s classwork and projects
• Receive announcements and updates from teachers
• Celebrate and support their child’s learning
• Accessing Seesaw
  Parents and guardians can access Seesaw through the web or mobile app using the login information or QR code provided by their child’s teacher.

The Seesaw app is available for mobile devices:

• iOS (Apple App Store)
• Android (Google Play Store

Getting Started on Schoology for parents: Presentation available

1. Log in to the Parent Portal.
2. Select the Schoology icon from the navigation menu on the left.
3. View your Parent Access Code, open a tutorial, or click the link to go directly to Schoology.
4. Begin setting up your Schoology account.
5. Download the app with iOS or Android
6. Ready to log in? Sign in to Schoology.

When you sign up for a free Schoology parent account, you will have access to two different views.

• Personal Account: allows you to interact in courses/groups as a parent--please know that our district does not currently permit parents to join student courses and groups.
   
• Child Activity View: allows you to view courses/groups that your child is enrolled in, so you are truly viewing the course/group as your student. Please note, you will not be able to interact in course activities or discussions, nor make submissions on your child's behalf.

The notification settings for your Personal Account and Child Activity View are different, to change the notifications, view the links below.

• Child Activity View Notifications: Your account is defaulted to receive a weekly update from Schoology regarding your child's courses.

Once logged in, click on Account Preferences on the menu, click the Students tab, click Add, and then enter the child’s name, access ID, and access password. Choose a relationship and then click Submit. Download a PDF guide to add a child to an existing parent portal account.

The Parent Portal helps you stay informed and connected with your child’s school experience. While tools like Seesaw, Schoology, and Clever provide insight into daily learning, PowerSchool is the official gradebook of record. Through the Parent Portal, you can:

• Complete annual Back-to-School forms
• View grades, attendance, and class schedules
• Access report cards and teacher comments
• Set up email notifications 
• Access bus information (start of year only)
• View health screenings completed at school
• Update your contact information

Already have an account?
Please log in to Parent Portal using your self-selected credentials, and take a few minutes to:

• Complete your Back-to-School Forms
• Confirm your contact details are current
• Review your notification preferences
• Add any new students to your account using their Access ID and password (see the Parent Portal letter from your school or contact the school office)

We’re here to support you every step of the way! We hope these tools make it easier to stay connected and engaged in your child’s learning this year. For further assistance, email parentportal@wcasd.net.

1. Log into the Parent Portal.
2. Click the Class Registration link.
3. You will be welcomed to your school’s Class Registration System. Click on the link to View Course Requests to view courses recommended by your teachers. The course requests screen will open.
4. After viewing the teacher recommendations, click on the Class Registration link again to select electives.
5. Click on the edit link for Electives by clicking on the pencil across from the Electives category.
6. Click on the box for the elective/electives you wish to choose. You can view additional electives pages by clicking “Next” or a page number. Click on Okay to submit your selections.
7. You will be able to view the courses you requested after you have completed your selections.
8. After confirming your selections, click on Sign Out to exit.

Technology is a great tool to help keep us informed, connected, and entertained. These days, it sometimes feels like we have an electronic device permanently attached to our bodies given how often we spend time scrolling, searching, watching, playing, and posting. Unfortunately, there can be unwanted effects of electronic use: screen time, especially at night, can disrupt sleep in kids and teens.

Valuable items are protecte: houses, cars, important paperwork…but how much do we protect our digital assets and information? Cybercriminals are getting savvy with their phishing emails and hiding malicious downloads. Both schools and families are vulnerable to attacks from every individual email account on their network. So, cybersecurity experts share the best practices and warning signs for both families and school staff to look for to avoid phishing, ransomware, and malicious downloads.

• Online Security: Created by the federal government with games, videos, and other resources for teaching kids (Parents) of all ages about online safety.

Comcast / Xfinity

• You can set parental controls on your home network through Xfinity xFi, which lets you:
  • Create profiles & assign devices to each family member.
  • Set time limits, schedules (like bedtime mode), and pause Internet access for specific devices.
  • Apply basic content filters to limit access to explicit content while browsing.
• Access is usually through the xFi app or web dashboard once logged in with your Comcast account.
   

Verizon (Fios)

• Current Verizon routers (Fios Quantum Gateway or Advanced Wi‑Fi routers) offer parental controls, which you typically manage through the Verizon Home app:
  • Assign devices to profiles
  • Set content filters (age‑based filtering, block apps/websites)
  • Schedule times and pause internet access
  • Set daily limits and see usage reports
• Controls are often included at no cost, but require enrolling and using the app.

Important: Some Comcast or Verizon router parental control features can be limited or behave inconsistently depending on firmware versions or router models, and controls only apply to traffic through that router (Wi‑Fi/Ethernet), not cellular or VPN connections outside the home network.

IOS

• Built-in system: Screen Time (Settings → Screen Time)
   
• Features:
  • App usage limits
  • Downtime / schedule “bedtime” for devices
  • Content & privacy restrictions (websites, explicit content, purchases)
  • Communication limits (who your child can contact)
     
• Family Sharing: Parents can manage their child’s Screen Time remotely from their own iPhone or iPad.
   
• Extra: Can require a passcode so kids can’t change settings.
   

Android

• Built-in system: Google Family Link (free app by Google)
   
• Features:
  • Manage apps your child can install or use.
  • Set screen time limits and device bedtime.
  • Approve or block apps from Google Play.
  • Track device location.
  • Filter content in Google Play and Chrome.
     
• Requirements: Child must have a Google account and the Family Link app installed; parent also needs a Google account.
   
• Extra: Some manufacturers (Samsung, Huawei) add extra parental controls built into their devices, but Family Link works on almost all Android devices.
