2025-28 Comprehensive Planning
Our greatest strength lies in our community. Partnerships with families and local residents are key to our students’ success, and as we develop our 2025-28 Comprehensive Plan, we’re focusing on strengthening these vital connections.
Guided by our mission to educate and inspire every student to achieve their personal best, we are working with our students, staff, families, and community to shape the future of WCASD. Together, we can ensure our district continues to thrive.
High School Schedule Recommendation
We are committed to continuously improving the student experience. After years of research, stakeholder input, and careful planning, we are introducing a recommended Drop 2 Rotating Schedule for the 2026-27 school year.
This new schedule is designed to enhance student learning, flexibility, and engagement by providing longer instructional periods, increased access to support, and a more balanced daily structure. Our goal is to create more opportunities for enrichment, collaboration, and success.

Elementary Departmentalization
We're committed to enhancing student learning and preparation for future success. Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, we will transition to a departmentalized model for 4th and 5th grade at three elementary schools.
This shift is designed to provide more specialized instruction, increase student engagement, and strengthen readiness for middle school. By fostering collaboration among educators and helping students build independence, this model will create a more dynamic and effective learning experience. Our goal is to support every student in developing the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
Standards-Based Report Card (SBRC)
A standards-based grading system defines the knowledge and skills students should master at each grade level. Our current kindergarten through second grades receive grades based on the PA State Standards. We have researched and discussed best practices in standards-based reporting through committee work. Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, all of our elementary schools will implement changes to their grading practices for students in grades 3, 4, and 5.
To thrive is more than just to survive—it’s about growing, flourishing, and reaching our fullest potential, together.
This vision is at the heart of our district initiatives, as we strive to create opportunities, embrace innovation, and build connections that empower students, staff, and our entire community to succeed.
