The Fugett Administrative Team includes the following staff:
Mr. Llewellyn A. Small - Principal and 8th Grade Administrator
2016-17 will be Mr. Small’s first year as the Principal of Fugett Middle School. Mr. Small has spent the past 17 years working in the West Chester Area School District and has more than 20 years of experience working in the field of education. For the last eight years, he served as Assistant Principal of East High School and previously served as a science teacher and building administrator at Stetson Middle School. Mr. Small earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Penn State University, and Master’s Degrees in Educational Leadership from Gratz College and Wilmington University. When Mr. Small is away from Fugett, he enjoys spending time relaxing at the beach with his wife and 3 children.
Dr. Philip Matilla - Assistant Principal and 7th Grade Administrator
Dr. Matilla oversees student scheduling. Dr. Matilla is entering his second year at J.R. Fugett Middle School. He earned his Principal Certification and Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Wilkes University and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University. When Dr. Matilla is away from Fugett, he enjoys spending time with his two children and his wife. He also is an avid soccer and Philadelphia sports teams fan.
Mrs. Mary Kay Puchalla - Assistant Principal and 6th Grade Administrator
The 2018-19 school year will be Mrs. Puchalla’s first year at Fugett Middle School serving as an assistant principal. Before she was with us, she was an assistant principal at Stetson Middle School for five years. Prior to her administrative career, she was a mathematics teacher for Marple Newtown School District in Delaware County. Mrs. Puchalla received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD., her Master of Education and Educational Leadership Degrees from Cabrini College. When Mrs. Puchalla is away from Fugett, she enjoys playing golf with her husband and friends and watching her two sons play in various athletic events for the West Chester Area School District.
