Communication Between School and Home
Communication is important between school and home in order for us to ensure the safety of the children. Any changes in routine such as play dates, appointments, loading dock pickup and day care situations must be sent to the teacher in writing the morning of the event. We realize that in an emergency, phone calls to the office and emails are necessary, but notes to teachers actually are a safer means of communicating dismissal changes. We have a process in place whereby all written notes given to teachers are channeled through the main office for documentation and then returned to the teacher. It is a process that is extremely effective. We cannot guarantee your dismissal plans if you choose to send emails or notify us by telephone.
Please send notes to communicate the following:
If students are going home together, we need permission notes from EACH student's parent. We need to know that both sets of parents have given permission.
STUDENTS WHO RIDE THE SAME BUS:
If both students ride the same bus, they may get off at another student's stop providing we have notes from BOTH students' parents giving permission.
LOADING DOCK PICK-UP:
Please send a written note to your child's teacher if you require a loading dock dismissal. If you will be picking up your child on a regular basis [every Tuesday, for example] at the locking dock, one note will suffice for the year. All students dismissed via the loading dock must be signed out (at the loading dock). If a student will be going home with anyone besides their parent or someone designated on their Emergency Card, please provide a permission note. Please note that we may ask for photo ID.

IF YOUR CHILD MISSES THE BUS:
Please emphasize to your child that it is important to listen carefully when buses are being called at dismissal. If he/she misses the bus, we will call you to pick up your child at the school office.
