"...if we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow." - John Dewey
The West Chester Area School District’s 1:1 learning initiative is continuing – and growing! Students in grades 6 through 12 will now receive laptop computers to use in school and at home. All students in K-5 receive an iPad.
The laptop computers are preloaded with Windows 10 and the Microsoft Office Suite, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Additional software is available to students in our Software Center online. Each computer also comes with a protective carrying case. The iPad device comes with a protective case and a suite of apps used to support the curriculum and enhance each student's learning experience.
With each laptop and iPad we offer an optional Device Protection Plan (DPP) that covers accidental damage or repairs beyond the scope of the manufacturer's warranty. The fee is $50.00 annually for students in 6-12 and $25 for K-5 to participate in this protection plan. You can pay with a credit card online using the PaySchoolsCentral payment system - be sure to select the Technology DPP option. You can also mail your payment or bring a check to the Technology Office in the Spellman Administration Building: 782 Springdale Drive, Exton, PA 19341. Complete and include this Technology DPP form, and be sure to include your child’s name and school in the memo line.
Accidents do happen, so we encourage every family to participate. However, if the fee is a financial burden, please contact the Technology Office via email: email@example.com. We include additional details about this plan including the scope of coverage and limitations in the WCASD 1:1 Handbook Grades 6-12 and the Handbook for Grades K-5.
