Cool Speak's Carlos Ojeda Visits Stetson Middle School's Student Equity Team
The Stetson Equity team was joined by Carlos Ojeda, dynamic youth empowerment speaker, and founder of Cool Speak.
He shared his own story of growth and empowerment and encouraged students to find their voices!
Award-winning Author Kwame Alexander Zooms Into WCASD
Award-winning children's book and poetry author Kwame Alexander joined WCASD students via Zoom to talk about his life, his work as an author, and to offer advice on the writing and publishing process. He also spoke on the planned Disney+ adaptation of his Newbery Medal winning book, The Crossover.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Activities
On Monday, January 18th the Rustin, Henderson, and East Black Student Union’s partnered with the WC Food Cupboard and St. Paul’s Baptist Church to collect and sort food donations. There was a total of 2414 pounds of non-perishable food items donated! Students collected the items which were dropped off at the Melton Center, then sorted them, and packed them on to the food cupboard truck accordingly. A big thank you to the school and community members who contributed to make this event happen!

Chester County Intermediate Unit
The Chester County Intermediate Unit provides services to the 12 school districts in Chester County. This includes services to nearly 86,000 public and non-public school students and over 6,000 educators. CCIU's major services include: special education and compensatory education programs; career, technical and customized education; mentor training and staff development; technology initiatives; consortia for school business operations; and curriculum services.

Delaware Valley Consortium for Excellence and Equity (DVCEE)
WCASD was a founding participant of the Delaware Valley Consortium for Excellence and Equity. Our district works with the Delaware Valley Consortium for Excellence and Equity (DVCEE) to provide meaningful professional development for teachers in diversity, equity, and culturally responsive pedagogy.

Tyrone Howard
Dr. Tyrone Howard has provided professional development to Equity Teams and Multiple Tiers of Systems and Support Teams in the West Chester Area School District.
