Community Conversations Part 3 Rescheduled for April 26!
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen and unprecedented circumstances, we are postponing the event tonight, Thursday, March 31, 2022. We are committed to holding the third and final event in this series, and the new date is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at Rustin High School.
I do apologize for any inconvenience this postponement may cause. We believe that hosting the Community Conversations: Chaos or Community? Part Three at this later date in April will allow for a more successful event and aligns with our goal of strengthening community.
Please note that anyone who has previously registered will be automatically re-registered for the event and receive updated information as we approach the new event date.
Thank you for your support and flexibility.

WCASD Equity Update May/June 2021
June is Pride Month!
Pride Month is a month-long observance during the month of June in celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people - and the history, culture, and contributions of these individuals in the global community.
Pride Month is commonly celebrated with parades and other large, celebratory gatherings devoted to individual displays of pride and expression, including displays of the rainbow Pride flag and other flags representing people with different identities.
Such events also often serve as protests against the discrimination and marginalization targeted against people who identify in these ways. Pride Month traces its roots to such protests and specifically commemorates the event known as the Stonewall Riots or the Stonewall Uprising, which is often considered the start of the movement for gay, queer, and transgender rights.

Equity Update February 2021
So why do we celebrate Black History Month?
From its origins with Dr. Carter G. Woodson, and messaging and/or proclamations from Presidents Ford, Carter, Reagan, Clinton and Obama. President Ford said it best where he called upon the public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.” Here is some additional information provided by the Library of Congress, Origins of Black History Month.
