  • Delaware Valley Consortium for Excellence and Equity (DVCEE)

    WCASD was a founding participant of the Delaware Valley Consortium for Excellence and Equity. Our district works with the Delaware Valley Consortium for Excellence and Equity (DVCEE) and the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU). Both provide meaningful professional development for teachers in diversity, equity, and culturally responsive pedagogy. This past year the DVCEE conducted an Equity Quality Review in our district. The findings in this report will guide our work over the next few years. 

  • Young Men and Women In Charge (YMWIC)

    Young Men and Women in Charge was founded with the support and collaboration of the West Chester Area School District. This mission of YMWIC is to empower economically disadvantaged you to excel in STEM careers. Housed in district, YMWIC offers access to academic tutoring, mentoring, alliances with colleges and universities, and corporation partnerships to advance student achievement.

  • Tyrone Howard

    Dr. Tyrone Howard is the Director of the Black Male Institute, and a professor in the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he also serves as Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Dr. Howard has provided professional development to Equity Teams and Multiple Tiers of Systems and Support Teams in the West Chester Area School District.

  • Justin Brown - West Chester University

    Justin Brown is the Resident Director at West Chester University. He is also the creator of the Diversity Awareness Program (D.A.P) which is designed to promote diversity and cultural awareness in all aspects of life to students, faculty, and staff on the campuses of colleges and universities through active engagements of discussions on social trends, issues, and ideas. In addition to D.A.P, and his position at WCU, Brown is president and CEO of Onward and Upward, a mentoring program that provides prospective college students with the skills and knowledge to be successful in institutions of higher learning.  He is also the author of Ugh!?! Not Another Diversity Book! Mr. Brown has provided professional development to staff in West Chester Area School District elementary schools.
