Dear Fern Hill Community,
I am filled with pride to be entering my first year as Fern Hill Elementary School’s Principal. It is a true gift to work alongside the students, staff, and families of this community. The 2021-2022 school year is all about New Beginnings as we return to school with a sense of normalcy post-pandemic. We get to unpack this school year together and remind ourselves of the activities we cherished most from the past, while continuing to infuse them with our new learning from the most recent, unconventional school year. With this year’s redistricting, our community has changed and evolved and we are eager to unite our families together as we learn and grow in the year ahead.
As an educator and administrator, I found I resonated strongly with the phrase “Maslow before Bloom”. In essence, once a child’s most basic needs are met, the sky's the limit for what they can achieve. At Fern Hill, we are committed to educating and inspiring students to achieve their personal best through a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment where we value respect, communication, and collaboration.
A few years ago, when I left my role as Instructional Coach at Fern Hill to work as an Instructional Technology Coordinator at WCASD’s district office, I was told, “Once a bobcat, always a bobcat”. I am excited to be coming back home this year. This community is engaged and dedicated to the educational excellence and experience of all children, and for that I am sincerely grateful. Thank you for partnering with us and continuously supporting and strengthening our community. As principal, I have the same passion and love of learning as I did as a teacher in the classroom.
I look forward to the opportunity to positively impact student learning and growth by working closely with all members of our school community. Together, we have so much we can accomplish.
