WCASD Middle and High School Summer Math

Mathematics is a way of thinking, a science of patterns, and the development of proof. Technology provides us with an opportunity for students with all learning styles and interests to understand math connections to the world and to appreciate the concepts of mathematics independent of the classroom. For students to experience the beauty of mathematics throughout the summer, the West Chester Area School District secondary schools’ websites provide links to a variety of mathematics resources for learning, exploration, remediation, practice, games, and enrichment. By providing links to the huge world of mathematics online, students will be able to experience and explore mathematics at their level of expertise and interest. For example, at the middle school level, students will be able to select games that reinforce number sense or develop logical thinking. At the high school level, students may choose to go to our YouTube channel to review a lesson on factoring trinomials or to some amazing college and university mathematics sites.

In addition to the web links, we are going to begin a moderated blog for students to discuss mathematics and math-related topics and ask and answer questions. Look for it through the schools’ summer math link. Students will have a chance to post comments and questions on various threads.
