Parent Teacher Conferences
Every spring, in cooperation
with the administration, the School Board adopts a new
calendar for the coming school
year. Built into this calendar – in addition to holidays
and teacher inservice days – are the dates for the
end of each marking period and the dates for parent conferences.
The conferences are scheduled for both daytimes and evenings
to accommodate all parents. They provide the opportunity
for parents to share concerns with their children’s
teachers and to receive information on their children’s
progress.
Conferences are held in the late fall and early
spring for elementary and middle school students. They are
held only in the late fall for high school students.
Report cards are distributed four times a year.
Since it may take the first grade student a bit longer to
adjust to
the demands of a full school day, grades are given beginning
with the second marking period. The fall conferences for
first graders help teachers develop a comprehensive profile
for each student in cooperation with the parents/guardians.
Middle schools encourage parents to include their child during
parent/teacher conferences as part of a child centered environment.
The conference schedule for the 2006-07
school year is given below. Conferences at any other time
of the year may be arranged
directly by contacting the student’s teacher in the
elementary schools or the guidance office in the secondary
schools.
