Lunch
Menus
The district contracts with ARAMARK
to manage the Food Service Program, which includes
breakfast and lunch in all our schools. Although
ARAMARK runs the daily operations of the program,
the district sets policies and lunch prices. For
the 2008-09 school year, lunch prices are $2.00
for elementary school students and $2.25 for secondary
school students. The price for breakfast in all
of our schools is $1. The district participates
in the Free and Reduced Price Lunch Program for
students who are economically disadvantaged and
meet income guidelines.
The district also participates in
the National School Lunch Program in all 16 schools.
This program provides state and federal subsidies
for breakfasts and lunches served in the schools.
In return for this subsidy, the district must
serve meals that meet the NSLP nutrition and portion
guidelines.
For breakfast, students have a choice
of bread or cereal, fruit or fruit juice, and
milk. Our lunch menus vary from day to day.
An automated Point of Sale system
in all cafeterias allows parents to set up an
account, and view what their child is purchasing
and their current account balance. This can be
accomplished over the Internet at:
www.pay4lunch.com
or www.cafeprepay.com
No cash is required when the student
goes through the line since the system uses the
student’s picture and the student enters
his/her PIN. The cost of the meal is subtracted
from the student’s balance. This system
has streamlined the cafeterias and increased service
for students and parents.
