District Employee Named Teacher of the Year

Jim Ascareggi, pictured here with some of his students, was awarded the Adapted Physical Teacher of the Year.

Jim Ascareggi, an adapted physical education teacher at many district schools, has been awarded the Adapted Physical Education Teacher of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania State Association for Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance (PSAHPERD).

Teachers recognized with this award are individuals who go above and beyond while instructing students with disabilities in adapted physical education programs. The nominations come from peers within or outside the organization. Ascareggi was selected for this award based on his many years of presenting adapted activities at national and state conventions and local workshops, working with undergraduate students at West Chester University in the area of adapted physical education, and coaching individuals in Special Olympics.

Mr. Ascareggi will receive his award at the PSAHPERD state convention on November 16th in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
