WCASD Administrator Selected by National Endowment for the Humanities

Recognition from Federal Agency Includes European Study

June 26, 2008 - (West Chester, PA) – An administrator from the West Chester Area School District, Lynn P. Wildrick, has been recognized by the National Endowment for the Humanities and will travel to Germany to participate in one of 27 summer study programs being conducted this summer. She was selected from a national applicant pool by the Endowment, which is a federal agency that supports seminars and institutes at colleges and universities that provide opportunities to study with experts in humanities disciplines.

Lynn will participate in an institute entitled, “J.S. Bach in the Baroque and Enlightenment.” The four-week program will be conducted in Eisenach, Leipzig, and Potsdam Germany, and directed by Professors Hilde Binford, Paul Larson, and Louise Forsyth – each recognized as a leading scholar in the field. Each teacher selected to be a part of the program will receive an Endowment-provided stipend to cover travel, study, and living expenses.

Lynn earned a BA in Arts Management as well as a BA in German, and was trained as a pianist and an organist. Her favorite organ music, appropriately, was written by Bach. She received her teaching certification from East Stroudsburg University. She is celebrating this honor along with her husband, Terry, and two daughters, Sarah and Emily.

In addition to the Bach institute, topics for the 27 seminars and institutes offered this summer include the works of Shakespeare and Chaucer, Latin, Spanish, and Arabic Literature, the music of Mozart and Bach, the Industrial Revolution, the Holocaust, and Himalayan and Mesoamerican cultures.

Each year more than fifty thousand students in the U.S. will be taught by a teacher who has participated in an Endowment program.
