Capitol building.

Rachel Sturino, a senior art student from B. Reed Henderson High School, has won first place in the annual Congressional Art Award contest. The contest, which spotlights local high school artists, is conducted through the Chester County Intermediate Unit’s annual art show.

In winning this award, Rachel’s work, depicting her grandfather’s shaving kit and glasses, will hang for one year in a corridor of the United States Capitol Building. Since over 4 million people visit the Capitol each year having artwork displayed there is a very prestigious honor.

Come fall, she will be majoring in art at the University of Oregon on a Dean’s scholarship.
