2008-09 Final Budget Message
On May 27, 2008, The West Chester Area School Board adopted a final budget for 2008-09 of $192.3 million, an increase of $6.7 million or 3.6% over the previous budget. Almost half of the increase is a result of the escalation of debt service by $3.14 million to fund the construction of Rustin High School and the extensive renovations of both East and Henderson High Schools. In the following year our debt service is expected to grow by $1.1 million, a smaller increase, as we bring these capital projects to a close. The 3.6% budget increase is lower than the 3.9% 12-month inflation rate based on the April, 2008 Consumer Price Index (CPI).
