Assistant Superintendent Update
Dear Parents, Students, and WCASD residents,
The School District interview team in place to fill the Assistant Superintendent vacancy would like to update you regarding the search process. As you know, three candidates visited the school district last week for a day and evening of interviews and opportunities to meet with various stakeholder groups. We want to thank members of our faculty, staff, administration, students and parents who attended those meetings and provided our committee valuable feedback.
Following the candidate visits, the interview team met separately and with the School Board to discuss each candidate and provide the School Board with our recommendations. The interview team has recommended, and the School Board supports, the reopening of the search process. The committee made this recommendation because, while we believe that each candidate possesses significant strengths, no candidate fully met the criteria set by the Board and administration (please access the document by clicking on this link.) Each candidate, therefore, has been informed that the search will continue. Our search firm, Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates, Ltd., will continue to review candidates and our interview team will proceed as we had before. We have developed a new timeline and hope to interview additional candidates early in May.
We will update you as this process moves forward.
Sincerely,
Alan G. Elko
Superintendent of Schools
For the Interview Team
