District Students Receive Many Awards at Regional FBLA Event


Over 320 students from across Chester County converged on B. Reed Henderson High School for the annual Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) regional leadership conference on January 10. Representing 12 school districts, the students competed for awards in many categories such as Business Ethics, Public Speaking, Business Law, Entrepreneurship, Management Decision Making, and Global Business.

Of the 29 participants from Rustin High School, 23 placed in their respective events as follows. First place awards went to Ethan Marshall, Martin Schlenker, and Lisa Xu. Second place was received by Megan Bigley, Kyle Bryson, Jillian Dougherty, Allie Lawthers, Chris McLaughlin, Julia Moore, Paul Mullin, Joni Noggle, Zach Patel, Caroline Peloquin, Angelina Reiher, Sarah Reinhart, Jeanette Verbiar, Dan Weidel and Brooke Westley. Mark Ricci received fourth place with Sarah Goldsborough and Melissa Lonsdale receiving fifth place.

Thirteen of the 15 participants from Henderson High School also placed. Fiona Mulligan received first place and Chris Medykiewicz second place. Third place was awarded to Ellie Brown, Emily Doratt, Jen Fan, Dina Liu, and Prerit Mahajan. Michelle Lee and Emily McFadden came home with fourth place with Jenna Christy, Britney Curtis, Matt Garver, and Erica Winter receiving fifth place.

Students who placed first in team events, or first through fourth on individual events in the regional competition are eligible to compete at the state conference in Hershey in late March.
