Standards-Based
Reporting
In 2003-2004 a committee
comprised of teachers, parents, administrators, and supervisors
was formed to begin researching standards-based reporting.
Standards have had a dramatic and positive impact on student
achievement across the nation. By establishing clear expectations
of what students should know and be able to do, standards create
fairness and an opportunity to learn for all students.
The committee spent two and a half years researching and
developing the report.
In January 2006 a Standards-Based Report was implemented
in kindergarten, first, and second grade, and in February
2007 a third grade report was issued. These documents provide
parents with information about a student’s progress
towards achievement of the end-of-year grade level standards.
The Pennsylvania State Standards are the expectation of
what students should know and be able to do. The Standards-Based
Report was created in order to communicate clearly, consistently,
and fairly to parents and students.
