Act 1 Referendum Question Is Rejected by Voters
The referendum question that gave voters the opportunity to alter the district’s tax structure was rejected in the May 15 primary election.
As a result, the district’s tax structure is unchanged, with real estate taxes and a 0.5% earned income tax the primary sources of local revenue for the district.
The proposed final budget for 2007-08 totals $185.6 million and sets the real estate tax rate at 15.79 mills for Chester County residents and at 11.87 mills for residents of Thornbury Township, Delaware County.
The final budget is scheduled for adoption in June.
