District Boundaries

With 16 schools covering 75 square miles, only a very large map can depict the West Chester Area School District in detail. This is especially true given the district’s large number of winding rural roads, which must frequently be traveled to reach a destination. Attendance boundaries for district schools often follow these rural roads as well as major highways, railroad lines, municipal boundaries, and other landmarks.

The district maintains in the Spellman Administration Building large wall maps that show the elementary, middle, and high school attendance boundaries. These maps may be viewed during normal office hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Spellman building, 829 Paoli Pike, West Chester, Because of the expense involved in printing the maps, however, individual copies cannot be mailed or given to the public to take home.

The District recognizes that traveling to the Spellman building may create an inconvenience. Yet district residents and especially newcomers frequently want to know the schools that serve a specific neighborhood or address. Therefore, we have developed a software program that identifies the public schools served by any address in the district. Inputting an address within district boundaries will bring up the public elementary, middle, and high schools assigned to that address.

Members of the public who have additional questions about school boundary lines are asked to contact the Transportation Office or the Communications Office.
