Pursuant to the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Act, Act 3 of 2008 (65 P.S. §§ 67.101 et seq.) ("the Act"), public records of the School District are generally available for copy and/or review to legal residents of the United States. Our Board Secretary serves as the Open Records Officer for the School District. The following outlines basic procedures for making a request for information.
Requests for Information
A request for information may be either oral or in writing. If a requester wishes to pursue the rights and remedies afforded under the Right-to-Know law, however, then the request must be in writing.
To request information in writing, fill out the Request Form for Inspection of Public Records. A link to this form is located in the Supporting Documents section of this web page. The District will also accept the Office of Open Records’ Right-to-Know Uniform Request Form. A requester may submit a written request in person, by mail, by fax, or by email. All written requests must include the date submitted and a name and address to where the response and additional correspondence should be sent. The request should also indicate whether the requester seeks copies of the requested documents or wishes to simply review the documents at the District.
A written request should identify or describe the records sought with sufficient specificity to enable the District to ascertain which records are being requested. A written request need not include any explanation of the requester's reason for requesting or intended use of the records.
The District will respond to the request in a timely manner (see Response for a Request for Access to Public Record in the Support Document Section). If a request is denied in part, in full, or deemed denied (meaning the District failed to respond to the request within the time permitted) then the requester has the right to appeal to the Commonwealth’s Open Records Office.
